Last week I had the privilege of being the technical lead on the technical aspects surrounding the contest, specifically, the south african regionals. Whilst this wasn’t all clear sailing and presented numerous challenges (some technical, and some not) it was never the less a very good experience.

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008Taking security seriously (funny)
Thursday, August 28th, 2008I just absolutely HAD to share this with the rest of the world, I just received this email from a colleague at a sister company of mine. Their names removed and replaced for their anonymity. For those that don’t understand afrikaans, sorry folks. Maybe someone will translate for you.
Jaco.
Lekker dag.
When Outlook sends mail …
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008I just couldn’t resist. An Outlook user sent an email to an automated system, and got this back:
! Decoding of application requests from Base64 is not supported as yet.
! Please resubmit your application in clear (or quoted) ascii. This is !
probably because you are sending from a Windows PC – and have possibly !
imported the form into a Word-Processor like Word. As this ! application
has to be scanned electronically – this makes it very ! unsuitable. Please
therefore save the application in ‘.txt’ format and ! resubmit in ascii.
I just couldn’t resist posting it here.
